４月にワシントンDCに遊びに行ったときに、駐禁を取られたのですが、
どう見ても規則が分かりづらい場所で、他にもたくさんの人が駐禁を取られており、
その後も何人もの人がその場所に駐車しようとしていた場所で、
どうしても納得できず、取り下げるよう申請していた返事が３ヶ月以上たってやっと届きました。
結果、１００ドルの駐車違反代が免除されることになりました！
ネットで申請しましたが、通知ははがき一枚でペラッと。よくやった、自分！
下にアピール文章と写真を貼っておきましたが、
こんな分かりづらいく、駐車違反を取るための罠のようなチケッを、
大勢の人が憧れるアメリカの首都ワシントンDCので起こるなんてとても悲しい。
こんな駐車違反は受け入れられない。とアピールしました。

ちなみにこの場所は、下の看板の一番左、時間が変更されているのがポイントです。
４時～６時半は、駐車違反が取られます。
そしてそのことを示す一番右の看板が長ーーい通りの端っこに一つあるだけ。
ワシントンDCは駐車の規則が分かりづらいので、要注意です。

The parking system of Washington D.C. is
difficult. I saw some free parking space before, but it was written zone 2 or
6. I didn't understand, but I didn't park there, because I didn't want to get
ticket. I focused on if there is payment
system near there when I was looking for parking space then.
The green sign near the Parking bending
machine was obviously amended. The amendment was “9:30AM-4PM (Monday-Friday)” I
believed the amendment was not correctly finished because of the sign’s space
problem. No time limit parking remained as 6:30PM-10PM Mon-Sat, there was not
enough space to add “Monday-Friday 4PM-10PM” on the sign. I believed so. Who
could imagine there is another RED sign at the corner of street? Normally,
permit (Green) and prohibited (Red) signs should be paired each other.
It’s really confusing not only for
foreigner like me, but also for local American people. I even couldn’t find the
RED sign until an officer explained it. There were many other cars which got a
ticket on it. While I was wondering and standing, not a few people tried to
park there. But I advised them not to park.
If you really don’t want to park here, you
should set more RED signs. At least it should be set by Parking bending
machine. It’s like a trap to collecting parking violation fine. I didn’t mean
to violate, but the sign was really unclear and mean. I feel so sad it happened
in Washington D.C. which is the capital of the United States, and many people
dreams to visit. I can’t accept this parking ticket.
